Treatment process

Your treatment in four steps

Every treatment is individual, but the road map always consists of the same four steps.

  1. 1

    First examination

Your teeth and jaws are examined. The need for treatment and the options are discussed with you.

  2. 2

    Planning

Records are taken with photographs, X-rays and an intraoral scan; a personal treatment plan and an estimated time are set.

  3. 3

    Treatment

Braces, clear aligners or other treatments are applied as needed. Treatment progresses with regular check-ups; you follow it in the Patient Panel.

  4. 4

    Retention

When active treatment ends, retainers are fitted so that the teeth stay in their new positions, and check-ups continue.

Patients under 18 who are covered by the Turkish Social Security Institution (SGK) can receive SGK's orthodontic payment in three stages: at the start of treatment, at least 6 months later, and when treatment is completed (at least 4 months after the second stage). Payment is also made for treatments that started before the age of 18 and are still ongoing. The required documents are provided at our practice.

It depends on the condition of the teeth, age and the chosen method. Most treatments take 1.5–2 years. Your estimated treatment time is set at the planning stage and shown in the Patient Panel.

With braces, check-ups are usually every 4–6 weeks; with clear aligners, every 6–10 weeks. The interval may change depending on the stage of treatment.

Around the age of 7 is a good time for a first orthodontic check-up. Some problems, if noticed during growth, can be guided with simpler methods. There is no upper age limit for orthodontic treatment in adults.

Your teeth may feel tender for a few days after braces are fitted or after you switch to a new aligner. This feeling usually passes quickly.
