SGK orthodontic support
Patients under 18 who are covered by the Turkish Social Security Institution (SGK) can receive a fixed payment from SGK towards orthodontic treatment, in three stages. This page is a short summary; the detailed guide is in Turkish. We are happy to explain the process at the practice.
Step by step
- Appointment at an ADSM. Book an appointment with a general dentist at an Oral and Dental Health Centre (ADSM) through MHRS (the national appointment system) or by calling 182. The dentist refers you to the orthodontic department.
- Medical board report. The orthodontist at the ADSM examines the patient and issues a medical board report stating the malocclusion class (Class I, II or III). The report is valid for 6 months; treatment must start within that time.
- Treatment at our practice. Treatment is carried out at our practice. At each of the three stages, we give you four documents: the stamped report, printed photographs, the orthodontic treatment follow-up form and the invoice.
- Approval at the ADSM. At each stage, the patient takes the documents to the emergency dental clinic of the ADSM, where they are examined and the documents are approved (no appointment needed).
- Submission and payment. The approved documents are submitted to the SGK Bursa Provincial Directorate (a parent can submit them). SGK pays into the patient's account, usually within a few weeks.
The three stages
- Stage 1: at the start of treatment.
- Stage 2: at least 6 months after the start.
- Stage 3: when treatment is completed, at least 4 months after stage 2.
Payment is also made for treatments that started before the age of 18 and are still ongoing. SGK pays a fixed amount, not a percentage of the treatment fee, and it pays the patient, not the orthodontist.
2026 payment amounts
| Malocclusion class | Per stage | Total (3 stages) |
|---|---|---|
| Class I | 5,507 TL | 16,521 TL |
| Class II | 8,099 TL | 24,297 TL |
| Class III | 9,718 TL | 29,154 TL |
These amounts are set by SGK, are the same for everyone and are not related to our practice's fees. Each stage is paid at the amount of the year in which that stage's documents are submitted; amounts usually increase every year.

SGK does not pay a percentage. Whatever the treatment fee, it pays a fixed amount at each stage. The amount depends on the malocclusion class (Class I, II or III) stated in the medical board report.
No. SGK pays directly into the patient's account.
The same amount is paid at each of the three stages. The amount depends on the malocclusion class and the year, and it usually increases every year. Each stage is paid at the amount of the year in which that stage's documents are submitted. For example, a patient who submits stage 1 in 2025 and stage 2 in 2026 may receive two different amounts.
Yes. The documents can be submitted to the SGK Bursa Provincial Directorate by the patient's parent; the patient does not need to go. However, when the documents are approved at the ADSM, the patient is examined, so the patient must attend that step in person.
After the documents are submitted to SGK, payment is usually made into the patient's account within a few weeks.
Yes. If treatment started before the age of 18 and is still ongoing, payment is made. SGK does not make the orthodontic payment for treatments that start after the age of 18.
